Fort Rickey Children's Discovery Zoo in Rome is a family-owned petting zoo where kids can feed tame deer and hold baby pygmy goats. Its Fall Fun Days run on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 4 PM, from September 19 to the end of October.
How much does it cost?
Admission is $12 plus tax for adults and $10 plus tax for children 2 to 15. Tractor pull rides are $2.50 a ticket, pumpkins are $4 each and s'mores kits are $5. Season passes are accepted.
What is there to do on a fall weekend?
Antique tractor pull rides around the zoo loop, pumpkin decorating and crafts, a kids' fun maze, a campfire with s'mores, animal presentations and the Wild Creatures Playland with its pillow bounce.
What food is sold?
Cider, fresh donuts from Ferlo's, homemade fudge, caramel apples, chili, macaroni and cheese and pumpkin bread, among other things.
How long should we plan to stay?
Most families spend 1 to 2 hours. All activities are weather permitting, so call 315-336-1930 if the forecast looks rough.
