2026 season
🌽 Corn Mazes
723 farms across 9 states, and 505 with 2026 season dates posted by the farm.
A corn maze is one of the easiest fall outings to plan with kids: a field of tall corn cut into winding paths that you walk through together, usually as part of a bigger farm visit. By late September the stalks are well above an adult's head, so even a short maze feels like an adventure to a five-year-old. Most farms pair the maze with other things to do. Of the 723 corn mazes in our directory, 675 also have a pumpkin patch and 558 run hayrides, so plan on making a morning or an afternoon of it rather than a quick stop.

When to go in 2026
Most corn mazes open around Sep 19 and close around Oct 31. 89% of the closing dates farms have posted are on or before November 1, so don't leave it too late. Farms in Michigan tend to open first (around Sep 17), and those in California and Texas last (around Sep 26). Hoping for a quieter weekday trip? Of the 532 farms that publish their fall hours, 155 (29%) are closed Monday through Thursday, so check the farm's hours before you go. These figures come from the 2026 dates 505 of the 723 farms have posted themselves, and update as more farms post theirs.
What parents usually want to know
Is a corn maze okay for young kids?
Yes. Daytime mazes are built for families. Many farms that cut a big maze also cut a smaller one for little ones, so ask which is which when you arrive. Toddlers usually do better on a short maze or riding on a parent's shoulders than walking a large one, and the paths are bumpy dirt, so a carrier or a sturdy wagon works better than a stroller.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the maze, which farms describe in acres. A small kids' maze can be a quick loop, while a large one can fill most of an afternoon if you try to find every checkpoint. With a pumpkin patch, a hayride and a snack on top, a family visit is usually a few hours.
What if we get lost?
That is half the fun, and every maze has a way out. Many mazes hand out a map or run a checkpoint game that doubles as a guide. Before you go in, agree on a meeting spot at the entrance in case anyone gets separated, keep younger kids within arm's reach and older ones within calling distance, and make sure a phone is charged.
What should we wear and bring?
Closed-toe shoes that can get muddy, layers for a cool morning that turns warm, sunscreen and water. After heavy rain the paths turn to mud and some farms close the maze for the day, so a dry weekend is the best bet. Some farms do not allow outside food or dogs, so check the farm's own page before you pack a picnic or bring the family pet.
When is the best time to go?
Weekend mornings are usually calmer than weekend afternoons, and October weekends are the busiest of the season. Some farms sell tickets online for their busiest weekends, which can save time at the gate. Weekday visits are quieter but many farms are closed early in the week, so check the hours on the farm's page first.
What about night or haunted mazes?
Some farms open the maze after dark on selected weekends, often as a haunted attraction, and 117 of the corn mazes in our directory also list one. These are separate, later events meant for teens and adults, not the daytime maze your kids will enjoy. If you are bringing little ones, go in daylight.
Can we go on Halloween or in November?
A maze depends on standing corn, and many farms harvest or mow it soon after the season ends, so closing dates bunch up around Halloween. If you are planning a late visit, check the farm's closing date first, because its maze can close before the rest of the farm does.

How these dates are checked
Every season date on this page was read off the farm's own website, Facebook page or ticket store, then checked against this year's calendar. A page still advertising last fall's dates is rejected rather than republished. Farms with no date yet simply have not posted one; more do as the season nears. How we verify season dates →
